2012 REFUEL | “got chocolate milk?™”  “my After” Campaign Fact Sheet

Stretching. Icing. Slow breathing. Every athlete has his or her own after-workout ritual to recover after exercise.  Now, everyone from medal-winning swimmers and basketball players, to Ironman® triathletes are recognizing that their after is the perfect time to refuel with lowfat chocolate Milk.

Lowfat chocolate milk has what it takes to help athletes recover after a hard workout. With the right mix of protein and carbs to refuel and rebuild exhausted muscles, plus fluids and electrolytes to replace what’s lost in sweat, it’s simple, effective and scientifically shown to help refuel the body so athletes can perform at their best during their next race, game, practice or workout.

Launching in March, 2012, the REFUEL | “got chocolate milk?” “my After” campaign will educate athletes of all levels about the benefits of including chocolate milk in their after.

New “my After” Campaign

The new campaign, which debuts in March, will reach athletes nationwide through a variety of initiatives, including my After athlete print, television and online ads featuring athletes like medal hopefuls Carmelo Anthony, Dara Torres, and members from the USA Swimming Team. For the first time in the history of the iconic “got milk?” print ads, there will be no Milk Mustache in the new my After campaign.

Training Day Insider

Through a series of mini “webisodes,” athletes will get an inside look into how elite athletes and medal hopefuls prepare for competition and the important role their after-workout recovery rituals play in their overall performance.

Videos will be distributed through www.gotchocolatemilk.com (which will launch in March) and www.Facebook.com/gotchocolatemilk.

Get Sponsored

From March through December, the REFUEL | “got chocolate milk?” campaign will sponsor passionate athletes who include chocolate milk as part of their after – and give them a chance to land a spot in their own “got chocolate milk?” ad.

Athletes will be invited to submit a 60-second video that describes their after-workout ritual – then will rally votes to land a place on Team REFUEL. Winners will score technical training gear, $500 in sponsorship money, plus the chance to star in a “got chocolate milk?” ad or race in a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon or ½ in Europe.

For every vote cast on entry videos, $1 will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation®.

Refuel Champions

Athletes like Apolo Ohno, former “Bachelor” and Ironman athlete Dr. Andy Baldwin, and Challenged Athlete Foundation athlete Sarah Reinertsen, will serve as Team REFUEL “captains” and share nutrition, training, and recovery tips throughout the year on www.gotchocolatemilk.com.

At the Finish Line

Throughout the 2012 race season, REFUEL will be helping athletes recover with lowfat chocolate milk at Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and select Ironman races around the country.

As the “Official Refuel Beverage” of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Ironman, athletes can visit the REFUEL Zone at race Expo’s and at the finish line to learn about the recovery benefits of chocolate milk and to create their After video for a chance at landing a place on Team REFUEL.
